Desktop System
The gsSalePoint desktop system is designed to be a fully featured Store Management System. Early in the design phase of the gsFiresite system we realized that to fully manage a gunstore we would need a system beyond what is capable of a website based system. While the sales and ecommerce side of the business can be fully managed by a website, the accounting, shipping, and inventory management side of the business requires a on-site system to be truly effective.
As our products can come in or be sold in multiple ways, we needed a system that could handle the normal ebb and flow of products in our inventory and the customer management that goes along with it. So when a new product comes through the door that product can be added to the inventory and if a consignment item, the customer can be added as well. The same pictures and product info taken during the intake process can be used to create the product listing on the website and the Boundbook entry to the ledger. When the product is purchased in-store or online that product is automatically removed from active inventory and added to the Awaiting Shipment list. Having a single system to manage all of this makes it easier to manage the business and reduces the chance of errors.
The Desktop system is built using very similar technology as our website system but contains its own internal database for accounting and to meet ATF regulations for the Boundbook. All gsFiresite products are designed to work together or separately depending on your needs. The desktop system can be used to update the website but for security reasons the website admin panel has only limited availability to change the information in the desktop system. The store inventory will default to the desktop system for inventory when available but the gsFiresite ecommerce website does not require the gsSalePoint Desktop System to operate.
